A Strong Bond and Partnership

With more than 80 years of combined experience, the physicians at Northwest Cancer Center have witnessed significant technological advances in the efficacy of cancer treatment options.

As we unravel more and more cancer mysteries everyday, the words “conquer” “survival”, and “cure” have become a reality for so many of our patients and staff.

The medical staff of Northwest Cancer Center includes eight physicians certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology. They are members of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society.

We care for each of our patients as the unique individuals they are. Our foundation for this care is the strong patient and doctor partnership, based on integrity, compassion and a quest for excellence. We utilize finely honed listening skills, understanding, education, and a candid exchange of ideas to develop and nurture this important relationship.

It is the goal of our patients and staff to provide the necessary support and encouragement to help each patient incorporate the idea of living with cancer into their life journey. At Northwest Cancer Center, we believe that:

“We are not human beings seeking a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings living a human experience.”

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Living with Cancer

Much has been written about the emotional reactions some patients experience after learning they are “cancer-free.” Although the immediate response to this news is happiness and elation — lingering anxieties and a fear of recurrence can be emotionally paralyzing.

Addressing these very real psychological dilemmas head-on – and effectively dealing with them – is another significant component in the partnership with our physicians.

During this “healing journey” there are many new concepts for patients and their family members to grasp and understand. This is where the ability to communicate – to truly listen and talk with physicians and staff – makes a world of difference for our patients.

“In the depth of winter I finally learned that within me, there lay an invincible summer.”

Albert Camus

The physicians and staff at the Northwest Cancer Center are here to provide useful roadmaps and sign-posts whenever possible, to be accessible, and to encourage our partners in the journey to discover their own ‘invincible summer’.
